This course will introduce participants to wind energy theory and technology, resource assessment and wind farm site development. It will also discuss the implications of both very large-scale development and large numbers of individual turbines on existing electricity distribution networks.
The aim of the course is to ensure a thorough understanding of the principles of wind turbines operated on different scales. While wind turbines are increasingly common, their impacts on environment, strategic integration within the current energy market and existing infrastructure are not well understood when employed in large numbers. This course aims to explore these issues in more detail.
