The Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "Admiral F.F. Ushakov State Maritime University" is the largest educational institution of water transport and the only higher educational institution in the South of Russia that produces marine specialists for shipping companies, shipbuilding and ship repair plants, water transport enterprises, ports and transport terminals.

In accordance with the license of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the University conducts training in programs of secondary general, secondary professional, higher and additional education. State diplomas and certificates of the University comply with the requirements of international conventions and are recognized by all countries of the world. In maritime specialties, the University is accredited by the Council of Europe and the International Maritime Organization.

The University trains personnel in 30 specialties and areas of higher education, 6 specialties of SPO. 3 institutes, 5 faculties, 27 departments, branches in Rostov-on-Don, Sevastopol. To organize the educational process, the University has an educational and laboratory complex with a block of in-line classrooms and three academic buildings, more than 500 laboratories and classrooms, an electronic reading room, a library with a book collection of about 400 thousand copies.

The University has a modern complex of simulators and simulators simulating ship equipment. Including a simulator for controlling and maneuvering a vessel, simulators for communication systems and electronic cartography, modern educational remote technologies are used. On the basis of the Institute of Advanced Training, advanced training courses for ship personnel (more than 150 types of training) are organized and constantly operate. Scientific and pedagogical personnel are being trained, the dissertation council for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations is working.

The University employs more than 300 teachers, among them professors and doctors - 43, associate professors and candidates of sciences - 198.

Today, the University is a modern scientific and educational complex that trains personnel for the transport sector of the country's economy on a full cycle of training: school-college-university-postgraduate-doctoral studies.

More than 7 thousand people study at the University. During its existence, more than 35,000 specialists have been trained.
