Detection of marine alien species in Sardinia
The project aims to strengthen the prevention, detection, and management of terrestrial and marine Invasive Alien Species (IAS) in Mediterranean transit areas through the involvement and support of local actors through a network for monitoring, training, and awareness raising, and strengthening cross-border cooperation among regional actors, for the transformation of practices in terms of IAS management.
Study Area: Sardinia (mostly Oristano) at IMC (International Marine Centre); Loc Sa Mardini Torregrande (OR), Italy
Starting Period: from spring-summer 2025 until February 2027.
Prerequisites
ISCED level: Bachelor (ISCED 2011 level 6)Preference for candidates with: already acquired at least basic skills on one or more taxonomic groups of marine fouling and/or citizen science activities.
Curricular Technical-Scientific perspectives: depending on the candidate's commitment and skills, opportunities to learn identification techniques, protocols, monitoring and analysis in the field and lab, participate in writing disseminative and/or scientific contributions.
The candidate's availability, motivation and compatibility with the training period will be assessed before in an ad hoc online interview.
