The Doctoral Program in Environmental Engineering (PDEA) aims at advanced training in areas of diagnosis, prevention, and resolution of environmental problems, applying a multidisciplinary approach. PDEA students develop their doctoral theses in the various Departments of FEUP, promoting excellence in research and technological development while acquiring transversal skills in communication, scientific ethics, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Grant opportunities

This doctoral program does not have its own grants. The Portuguese Scientific System awards research grants to national and foreign candidates, in a call that normally takes place in February of each year, and that requires a work plan and a supervisor from the institution.
If you want to apply for a scholarship, we suggest you contact one of the professors of the Doctoral Program, explaining your motivations and areas of interest. We recommend that you send your CV, indicating the average of the degree obtained, so that they can jointly find a doctoral topic and a supervisor to apply for the scholarship.

Prerequisites

Although foreign students do not need recognition of a (master’s) degree to enroll in the Doctoral Programs in Portugal, if they want to apply for doctoral scholarships it will be necessary to have the recognition.
