The doctoral program is designed for students holding a master degree or a 5-year undergraduate diploma in Environmental Engineering or related fields who intend to pursue a research and development career in fields related to the Environment.

Application procedure

A potential doctoral candidate should start by contacting a Professor of Environmental Engineering at IST who develops research in the area in which he intends to carry out his thesis, so that the teacher contacted can become his supervisor. The candidate may ask the doctoral coordinator for information about the professors who research in the scientific areas of interest. The doctoral application must be prepared jointly by the supervisor and the candidate, including the doctoral program. The curricular units of the academic part to be carried out must also be defined, in addition to other administrative documents to be requested at the IST postgraduate secretariat.

Learning outcomes

The main objective of the doctoral program is to provide the students with advanced and high quality education in the Environmental Sciences and Technologies, enabling them with the capacity to develop research work at academic or enterprise levels.

Prerequisites

Holders of a master's degree, or legal equivalent, and holders of a bachelor's degree corresponding to a 5-year degree;
Holders of a bachelor's degree, holders of a particularly relevant academic or scientific curriculum that is recognized by the Scientific Council of IST as attesting the ability to carry out the course;
Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized by the Scientific Council of IST as demonstrating the capacity to carry out the course.
