This major includes marine biology and ecology, marine and coastal management, and oceanography. It combines knowledge of marine aquatic life with a solid understanding of the physical environment. Through experimental design and research you’ll learn to appreciate the complex interactions that occur in marine ecosystems. It is envisaged that there will be up to three overnight field trips (cost of food and accommodation of up to $500 for around 10 nights to be paid by the student).
Career Pathways
Graduates are employed in fisheries and marine conservation agencies at state and federal levels (such as the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions), consulting firms, resources industry, fishing industry, agencies such as Greenpeace and Reef Check, and in research at CSIRO, the Oceans Institute and universities.

-Mathematics requirement: This major requires a certain level of Mathematics. If you do not meet this level, you may be able to take additional Mathematics units in your first year to satisfy this requirement.
