Description of the study plan and study program
Globally, there is a consensus that the protection of the aquatic environment, both continental and marine, is one of the essential conditions for the protocol for the responsible use of its resources. This priority has been precisely expressed in all the regional and international forums that have been held in recent years on the aquatic environment. The main objective of various initiatives is to achieve the sustainable exploitation of living aquatic resources and aquaculture within the framework of sustainable development, without forgetting environmental, economic and social issues. It is in this context that the UAS FACIMAR, through the Plan and Program of Studies of the Master of Science in Aquatic Resources, aims to guide its activities towards research and training of quality human resources.
Of the plan and program of studies
This program is oriented towards research, together with the foundation in the development of well-defined lines to address current problems at the regional, national and global level, among which we can mention: a) Development of systems and biotechnologies that it requires a sustainable production of aquatic organisms, b) Propose mechanisms for the management of fishery resources, technological advances for the acquisition of information, as well as the use of new technologies to avoid environmental damage and waste of accompanying fauna and c) Evaluation of the impact of human activity on the aquatic environment.
Thus, the program presented has a focus on the training of high-level and competitive human resources to carry out research work as well as for the innovative application of scientific and technological knowledge through the development of projects that contribute to the solution of identified problems. in the aquaculture, fishing and in general in the aquatic environment.
The academic aspects of the curricular model have the following main characteristics:
Presenter of content balanced between theoretical and practical activities, from the inclusion of the student to the program, where the student automatically participates in the courses of the subjects and directly in the current research projects.
Assistant three fields of knowledge oriented to the use of aquatic resources in a responsible manner.
Having a flexible structure and open to student mobility between graduate programs in related areas that allows disciplinary, technical or analytical complementarity as required for the benefit of the student's comprehensive training.
Promote interdisciplinary and inter-institutional work.
Establish as a priority the strengthening of the researcher training process, incorporating them from the beginning of their master's program, in research projects under the responsibility of internal or external professor-researchers of the master's degree.
Having a teaching staff, whose base is made up of researchers from the FACIMAR-UAS, and supported by visiting professors who are successful as researchers of recognized prestige in various institutions of Higher Education and Research, both national and abroad.
Offer personalized attention throughout the stay in the postgraduate course by a teacher-researcher through a Tutoring system.
The student applicant to enter the Master of Science in Aquatic Resources (MCRA) program of the Faculty of Marine Sciences (FACIMAR), must demonstrate through supporting documents, belong in their training and academic career to the field of natural sciences and / or exact related to the objectives of the program.
THE BASIC COMPETENCES REQUIRED TO ENTER THE PROGRAM ARE:
Present projects of institutional and social interest that clearly fall within the lines of research on which the MCRA program is based.
Attitude of personal improvement, collaboration and willingness to interdisciplinary work that enhances the ability to analyze problems and propose solutions in related areas.
The MCRA program has an official duration of two years and only full-time students will be accepted so that the graduate has a good preparation in disciplines related to the management of aquatic resources.
Applicants for the MCRA program must hold a professional bachelor's degree in an area related to that of the program.
The admission of the students of the MCRA program will be carried out according to what is stipulated in the postgraduate normative document.
Likewise, the applicant must meet a series of requirements that will be evaluated by the Admission Commission to the MCRA program, who will analyze and assess the academic sufficiency and the ability to conduct research on the applicant, using the following requirements:

Candidates must submit for admission to the MCRA program, the documentation determined by the Department of School Services of the Faculty of Marine Sciences.
Fill out an application to enter the MCRA program, duly signed and provide a photograph for the application.
Certificate and Title of duly legalized undergraduate studies in the areas of natural and exact sciences related to the program.
Official proof is required to endorse the general average obtained at the immediately previous level.
Or, a certificate of qualifications that guarantees the average.
