In the national context, there is a need to strengthen sustainable development in the coastal-marine zone and to support the development of specific research and postgraduate programs to solve real problems arising from user demand. With this approach, the need to develop programs according to the situation of each area of the country and integrate the results into the national strategy of sustainable development has been discussed in various national forums.
The plan of the Multidisciplinary Master's Degree for the Management of the Coastal-Marine Zone is formulated based on an axis that integrates the knowledge and tools used in the social sciences with that of the environmental sciences to achieve an innovative proposal towards management from the coastal-marine area. This integration includes the theoretical analysis and the application of multidisciplinary approaches for the diagnosis and the coastal and marine problems of Mexico and case studies of the world.
Within the framework of the program, the students of this master's degree will have the opportunity to discuss the various problems and challenges of the coastal-marine area with experts and visiting professors whose professional career has been linked or has been fully developed within the management of natural resources in the public or private sector. In the same way, students will have the opportunity to experience directly when they participate in internships or research stays in government and higher education institutions in Mexico.
Over the course of the two-year master's program, students will gain a solid understanding of the multidisciplinary aspects of marine coastal zone management, allowing them to acquire an integrative, holistic, and multidisciplinary view of the complexity of the coastal and marine environment. The multidisciplinary master's degree for the management of the marine coastal zone will allow students to carry out cutting-edge research in their areas of specialization with scientific and methodological rigor that allow them to verify and replicate their research, which is vital to establish the robustness of management measures. in the coastal-marine area.
