The Bachelor of Science in Marine Ecosystem and Fisheries Science (Marsys) offers both comprehensive theoretical knowledge as well as methodological knowledge and skills in the marine sciences. The students get an overview of the biodiversity in different ocean areas of the world ocean and learn to understand the basic functioning of marine food webs and the underlying biogeochemical processes. Furthermore, extensive knowledge on questions of the management of marine resources and ecosystems, the "rules of good scientific work" provides vocational and social skills. In addition, the choice of compulsory elective modules gives students the opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of certain areas of biological oceanography, marine ecology or fisheries sciences.

Learning outcomes
Um den Studierenden des B. Sc. Marine Ökosystem- und Fischereiwissenschaften den Einstieg in den M. Sc. Biologie zu ermöglichen, müssen die Studierenden im B. Sc. Marine Ökosystem- und Fischereiwissenschaften folgende Module des B. Sc. Biologie erfolgreich im Wahlpflicht- und Wahlbereich einbringen:
- Zellbiologie und Biochemie - 9 LP
- Allgemeine Genetik und Molekularbiologie - 8 LP
- Mikrobiologie - 9 LP
- Biodiversität der Pflanzen - 6 LP
Somit sind 30 LP biowissenschaftlicher Module erbracht. Die weiteren 30 LP werden durch folgende Module des Studiengangs Marine Ökosystem- und Fischereiwissenschaften erbracht:
- Organismen aquatischer Systeme - 3 LP
- Marine Biodiversität - 12 LP
- Projektstudie und Bachelorarbeit mit einem Biologischen Thema - 6 LP + 12 LP
