The Master in Governance and Sustainability of the Sea at Iscte brings together the scientific knowledge of teachers and researchers from varying fields in the Institution, including the areas of Law, Economics, Anthropology and International Studies, in relation to the study of the sea.

Governance and Sustainability are the central, motivating ideas of this Master, operating as aggregators of thematic diversity and an interdisciplinary nature. The curricular structure offered enables contact with the multidimensionality of the various maritime subjects via their different disciplinary and methodological contributions. Besides curricular units in the subjects of Law, Economics, Anthropology and International Studies, the Master offers both mandatory and optional curricular units of a methodological nature.

The staff of teachers and lecturers integrates academics with both Portuguese and foreign specialists, including experts and political decision-makers of high degree.

In this way, the program is intended to offer a comprehensive structure, contributing to the education of qualified professionals and the development of scientific research concerning the governance of the sea in light of the principles of sustainable development.
