Knowledge

The candidate

  • have a thorough knowledge of ocean technology and can discuss key challenges and opportunities in the field
  • have in-depth knowledge in one of the two specializations of the study program; Marine measurement system and Marine installations
  • have advanced knowledge within the chosen specialization of instrumentation, acoustics or optics in Marine measurement systems, or in the chosen subject area in the Marine installations specialization
  • has knowledge in subjects such as mathematics, physics, programming/ICT and technology, which provides a good foundation for continuous update of knowledge and competence within ocean technology.

Skills

The candidate

  • can analyze problems in ocean technology and discuss ways in which these can be explored by using theory and experimental methods
  • can perform advanced calculations, measurements and analysis within Marine measurement systems or Marine installations
  • can handle and present measurement data as well as discuss precision and accuracy
  • can use software programming tools to analyze and process measurement data as well as for modelling and/or process control
  • can perform a supervised research project according to ethical norms in an independent and self-initiative manner on a topic related to Marine measurement systems or Marine installations

General competence

The candidate

  • can analyze relevant issues within the chosen specialization (Marin measurement systems or Marine installations), as well as discuss and communicate these to both specialists and other interested parties who do not have in-depth knowledge in the field
  • can with his/her knowledge and skills work independently or in groups with practical technological and/ or scientific tasks of high complexity
  • can analyze issues related to ocean technology with focus on professional/ research related ethics issues, and respect values such as ethics, transparency and reliability in their own work
  • has a scientific basis for active participation in innovation processes based on a thorough knowledge of ocean technology in general, and in depth knowledge in one of the specialization areas "Marine measurement systems¿ or "Marine installations" in particular
