The 3rd cycle in Sustainable Energy Systems (SSE) aims to train Doctors with the capacity for interdisciplinary intervention in areas such as efficient energy use and energy production, centralized and decentralized, as well as energy distribution, in a sustainable development perspective. Doctors in SSE have skills in the technological domains associated with these areas as well as in energy and environmental economics, have the ability to analyze systems and the interrelationships between systems, are qualified to develop research and equate highly complex problems within the energy-environment binomial, dealing with topics such as the assessment of the sustainability of systems, including the use of life cycle modeling, the analysis of material flows, the application of decision support systems, economic and markets and modes of regulation.

Prerequisites
Holders of a master's degree or legal equivalent; Holders of a bachelor's degree, holders of a particularly relevant academic or scientific curriculum that is recognized as attesting the ability to carry out this cycle of studies by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra; Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting the ability to carry out this cycle of studies by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra.
