The four-semester, research-oriented Master (MSc) Program in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering builds on the Bachelor (BSc) in Naval Architecture and in General Engineering Science majoring in Naval Architecture. It presupposes in-depth knowledge of basic mathematical, natural science, engineering and naval engineering principles, which may if necessary be verified. The central focus of this discipline is on acquiring knowledge and skills to develop, design, calculate and appraise naval and ocean engineering designs and their components. This Master program begins by extending the basic natural science and engineering principles in relation to naval architecture and ocean engineering by way of seven compulsory modules in various sub-disciplines. An extensive list of compulsory electives enables students to specialize in sub-disciplines such as ship design, design engineering and stability, hydrodynamics and ship theory, marine engineering, ocean engineering, and planning and production. Laboratories, seminars and a project report round off the program, which culminates in the fourth-semester Master’s thesis.
