This master's degree course is designed for the students in the modern fields of production, design, connection, storage, management and rational use of electrical energy. The specialty offers a high level of education, consistent with industry and energy. Students will be given the opportunity to learn how to deal with different electrical power problems - from the application of new scientific discoveries to generate, transport and use of electricity to the creation of new electrical network architectures (including smart) classic and renewable energy sources (RES). Students will learn how to apply their knowledge to solve the problems of developing renewable energy and energy as a whole, as well as the efficient use of electricity in the engineering, social and economic context of our European development.
Resultados del aprendizaje
The unifying unit of education in the specialty is the production, conversion and efficient use of electricity from RES. The eduvation is interdisciplinary and affects a wide range of problems of rational production and consumption of electricity. Students gain knowledge in the following areas:
- Renewable energy sources and electric generators;
- Power electronics converters used to convert energy from RES;
- Storage and reuse of renewable energy;
- Optimization of renewable energy systems;
- Electricity part of power plants using RES;
- Rational use and quality of electrical energy;
- Electrical networks and systems for decentralized electricity generation;
- Systems for relay protection and automation in the fields of energy power supply and electrical equipment;
- Electric drives with increased energy efficiency using modern electronic converters, controllers and control algorithms;
- Energy technology and ecology;
- Controlling energy consumption processes;
- Legislation and market of electricity in the Republic of Bulgaria and in the EU countries;
The duration of the teducation is regular - 1,5 years: 2 semesters with classes and 1 semester for diploma projecting.
The courses are taught both using traditional methods - lectures and exercises as well as electronic forms for distance learning through access to the educate platform via the Internet - Blackboard of the Center for Distance Learning of the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy – Sliven.
In the curriculum of the specialty there is an individual elaboration and presentation by the students of two course projects and two course assignments.
The education in the specialty "Electricity from RES" ends with the elaboration and defense of a diploma thesis. During the course design, students are educated in solving engineering problems that are either practical or research - related.
