You learn parts of the marine microfossil fauna and flora development as well as major stratigraphic distribution of the important mollusks. Important are demersal and planktiska foraminiferer's significance for the interpretation of the contemporary as well as ancient marine environments. Applications of petrogeology is highlighted. The course covers paleooceanography with a focus on the temporal analysis of the evolutions of the ocean and its links to the climatic, oceanographic, eustathian and geographical changes.

Prerrequisitos
150 hec in the field of Earth Sciences and/or Marine Sciences is required. Basic knowledge in marine micropaleontology is recommended, as course MG0230.
