The Marine Sciences studies were created for the scientific and practical training of professionals related to the marine and coastal environment. Without such studies, there would be no higher-level graduates with scientific and professional profiles in our country, with the ability to later specialize in the extensive field of work that the Sea represents, at different levels of study and management, either locally or regionally and globally.
The crucial role of the oceans in the climate, the carbon cycle and life on planet Earth; the high contribution of Sea-based industries; the essential contribution of the Sciences and Technologies of the Sea, and their studies, as engines of the generation of the necessary knowledge for the achievement of economic objectives in harmony with the environment; and lastly, the critical importance of including studies about the Sea in the European research area, make the Degree in Marine Sciences key to maintaining the primacy and excellence in studies and research in Marine Sciences and Technologies.
