Marine Biology and Fisheries MSc

Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) offers graduate (MSc. and PhD) degrees in the following fields: Marine Biology and Fisheries, Oceanography and Marine Geology and Geophysics. These graduate programs invite students with the backgrounds in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, statistics, or in any related engineering department.

Studies on biology of marine organisms, biodiversity, trophic level of organisms, interactions between species and with their surroundings, ecological factors and their effects on marine organisms are carried out. Within this framework, many studies are carried out in research areas such as bacteria, phytoplankton, zooplankton, ichthyoplankton, benthic organisms, seagrass, fisheries biology and population dynamics, marine acoustics, stock assessment for fishery management, marine protected areas, marine mammals, molecular biology and genetics.
