The professional technician course on Naval Mechanical Maintenance (CTESP-MMN) aims to prepare a highly qualified professional technician who, autonomously or integrated in a team, can assume specific functions in the scope of maintenance and repair of mechanical and electromechanical systems, namely in merchant ships, fishing and leisure boats, port terminals, shipbuilding and shipbuilding yards, offshore platforms, as well as in the industrial sector and related areas.

The graduates of CTESP-MMN are also prepared to continue their studies in higher education, namely ENIDH's degree courses in Engineering, where they can obtain credits within the scientific areas of the courses.

    Learning outcome:

    Main activities: the couser graduates will be able to work at all maritime, industrial and related activities that require professionals with the following competencies:

    • Carry out maintenance and repairment of the electrical and electronic equipment of the vessels in order to improve their performance and reliability;
    • Coordinate and carry out the maintenance and repairment operations of mechanical and electro-mechanic equipment of offshore platforms for exploration and extraction of oil and gas;
    • Develop technical relationships with equipment suppliers, analyze the needs of adapting the technologies to the specifics of a particular installation;
    • Analyze the needs of equipment and systems and develop the technical and commercial procedures necessary for their acquisition;
    • Coordinate programs and maintenance plans for equipment in maritime and port facilities;
    • Conduct damage and structural analysis on ships / platforms / equipment and plan and develop the actions required for proper repairment by carefully selecting the materials, technological processes, human resources and non-destructive testing and testing required;
    • Monitor and inspect the process of performing the repairs in order to ensure the verification of the project specifications;
    • Lead technical teams to perform maintenance and repair operations on ships / platforms / equipment components;
    • Transmit appropriate technical instructions to mechanics, locksmiths, welders, etc. in order to ensure the correct execution of repairs of vessels / platforms / equipment components according to the project specifications;
    • Supervise and execute the operation and maintenance of industrial cold and air conditioning installations;
    • Propose corrective solutions to deal with unforeseen changes in maintenance and repair of mechanical and electro-mechanic equipment of ships / industrial / port installations, namely with impact on the technical solutions used, planning of activities, etc.
    Objective:

    The superior technical course in Mechanical Maintenance Naval (CTESP-MMN) aims to highly qualified professional technician who, autonomously or integrated into a team, can take on specific tasks in the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electromechanical systems, in particular on merchant ships, fishing and leisure boats, port terminals, shipbuilding and shipbuilding yards, offshore platforms, as well as in the industrial sector and services in related areas. CTESP-MMN graduates are also prepared to in higher education, namely in undergraduate courses in ENIDH, where they can obtain credits within the scientific areas of the courses.

    The Technician course in Naval Mechanical Maintenance aims to train students in three aspects, being them:

    • General and Scientific Education
    • Technical Training
    • Training in Work Context.

    The Higher Education Nautical School Infante D. Henrique (ENIDH) is a polytechnic public higher education institution with statutory, scientific, pedagogical, administrative, financial, patrimonial and disciplinary autonomy. ENIDH is the only Portuguese national school dedicated to the formation of Officers of the Merchant Navy and senior managers of the Maritime-Port sector in the areas of Intermodality, Management and Logistics. It is the responsibility of the School to provide a solid cultural, scientific and technical training, to develop the capacity for innovation and critical analysis and to provide scientific knowledge in a theoretical and practical nature directed to the performance of activities characteristic of the Maritime-Port sector.

    Prerequisites:

    Prerequisites:

    a) Holders of a course of secondary education or legally equivalent qualification;

    b) Those which have been approved in the particularly appropriate tests to assess the capacity for higher education attendance of those over 23 years old, for the course, under the terms of Decree-Law no. 64/2006, of 21 March.

    c) Students who, having obtained approval in all disciplines of the 10th and 11th years of a secondary education course, or a legally equivalent qualification, and not having completed secondary education, are considered eligible through 1 capacity to be carried out by ENIDH.

    d) Holders of a diploma of technological specialization, of a diploma of technician professional or higher education degree who wish professional re-qualification.

    • Copy of citizen card / identity card and taxpayer card;
    • Certificate of academic qualification discriminated;
    • Certificate proving the approval of the specially appropriate tests to assess the ability to attend higher education of those over 23 years of age, when applicable.
