The Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering is intended to form Offshore Maritime Officers for the Portuguese and international merchant marine, in accordance with the training standards established by the STCW Convention - International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers from the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

A ship is a highly complex production unit, incorporating systems and equipment of high technological sophistication that impose a high level of preparation of the engineers who manage, operate and maintain them, in order to ensure their best performance. The skills acquired through the set of activities carried out on board by engineers of marine engines also make them highly sought after by companies from various sectors of shore activity.

    The Higher Education Nautical School Infante D. Henrique (ENIDH) is a polytechnic public higher education institution with statutory, scientific, pedagogical, administrative, financial, patrimonial and disciplinary autonomy. ENIDH is the only Portuguese national school dedicated to the formation of Officers of the Merchant Navy and senior managers of the Maritime-Port sector in the areas of Intermodality, Management and Logistics. It is the responsibility of the School to provide a solid cultural, scientific and technical training, to develop the capacity for innovation and critical analysis and to provide scientific knowledge in a theoretical and practical nature directed to the performance of activities characteristic of the Maritime-Port sector.
