The Coastal Hazards, Risks, Climate Change Impacts, and Adaptation MSc, also known as COASTHazar, is a 2-year Erasmus Mundus joint master's programme spanning 120 EC* credits. Designed to attract top-tier students worldwide, aiming to cultivate highly skilled professionals capable of safeguarding societies against coastal hazards globally. It is operated in collaboration across three high education institutions.

Grant opportunities

Full Erasmus Mundus scholarships:

  • ​Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available, and are granted on a competitive basis to a select group of highly qualified applicants, adding an element of prestige to the program.
  • The Erasmus Mundus scholarships span the entire 24-month program duration for full-time enrolment, encompassing all participation costs, plus a monthly allowance of 1,400€, designed to address various expenses such as subsistence, accommodation, travel, and installation costs for the students.
  • The full Erasmus Mundus scholarships will be awarded to 20 deserving recipients annually.

Learning outcomes

The COASTHazar is a 2-year Erasmus Mundus joint master’s is structured around seven key focal areas.

  • At University of Cantabria, the curriculum places a strong emphasis on cultivating core competences in focal areas (1) and (2), while also delving into aspects of areas (3) and (4),
  • Courses at IHE Delft comprehensively cover focal areas (3), (4), and partially extend into selected components of (5) and (7),
  • The University of Algarve's courses are intricately linked to focal areas (5), (6), and (7), providing students with the flexibility to opt for elective courses tailored to their preferences

Prerequisites

Eligibility for Erasmus Mundus Scholarships:

  • Applicants from all over the world holding at least a BSc degree are eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship (see admission requirements).
  • Students who have previously obtained an Erasmus Mundus scholarship between 2014 and 2020 are eligible to apply for a COASTHazar scholarship.
  • All students awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship will be provided with a scholarship contract.
