The Maritime Welfare (MARI-WEL) Professional Development Programme was created in partnership by the ITF Seafarers’ Trust and the World Maritime University (WMU). It is the first programme of its kind that delivers a comprehensive overview of topics and issues related to seafarer welfare, bringing together world-leading experts on seafarer rights, maritime regulations, and welfare issues.
MARI-WEL is designed to meet the needs of anyone who works with or interacts with seafarers, both onboard and on shore. This includes ship management companies, crewing agencies, port chaplains, welfare providers, or anyone with an interest in the welfare of seafarers.
MARI-WEL is delivered by distance learning enabling participants to follow the programme from anywhere in the world. The innovative programme consists of a series of videos, lectures, and activities.
Enrollment for the full MARI-WEL programme is open and ongoing and can be accessed by registering.
For a fee of 100USD, participants have the option to take an examination to potentially receive a Certificate of Completion for the Professional Development Programme in Maritime Welfare, issued by the World Maritime University.
