The Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) programme is one of the two full-time undergraduate programmes offered by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. It has consistently been ranked among the top 5 Civil and Structural Engineering Programmes in the world and among the top 10 in Graduate Employability Ranking, based on QS Ranking Survey. In the most recent survey, it has been ranked world number 2 and 1 for overall ranking and graduate employability respectively.  Since the offering of CE programme in 1969, our alumni has been instrumental to the urban development of Singapore, from the public housing, industrial spaces, transport and utilities infrastructure, to the iconic and award-winning structures such as Singapore Sports Hub, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and Jewel Changi Airport.  Our alumni has transformed the landscape of Singapore and we will continue to train engineer-leaders to make Singapore one of the most liveable city.

The CE programme is typically spread over four years leading directly to an honours degree.  The mode of teaching in the programme includes flipped classroom, hands-on projects, studio-based projects, site visits, labs, lectures and tutorials. Continuous assessments are carried out throughout the semester via projects, assignments, labs and quizzes to track and provide feedback on students’ learning. The programme differentiates itself from its competitors by exposing students to open-ended questions and real industrial problems to prepare them for a VUCA1 industry environment and equipping them with the essential skillsets to become a future engineer-leader. In the early semesters, students will be taking modules that are aligned to the 21st Century Competencies. In the later semesters, students will be taking analysis and design modules that prepares them well for the Professional Engineers licensing examination and it covers areas in civil engineering materials, construction management, geotechnical engineering, hydraulic and water resources, infrastructure systems, structural engineering, and transportation engineering. The department also offer specially tailored programmes for our CE students to stay ahead of the competition in the new specialization in Digitalization in Urban Infrastructure and minor in Infrastructure Management and Finance.
