The Faculty of Fisheries was established in 1982 as a 4-year School of Ondokuz Mayıs University with the Decree Law No. 41. Our School, which started education and training in Samsun in the 1984-1985 academic year and was transferred to Sinop in March 1986, was transformed into a Faculty in 1992. Our faculty is affiliated with Sinop University, which was published in the Official Gazette No. 26536 on May 29, 2007 and was established by Law No. 5662. In terms of academic structure, in our Faculty, which consists of 3 Departments, namely the Department of Fisheries Basic Sciences, the Department of Aquaculture, the Department of Fishing and Processing Technology, and 7 Departments, in addition to undergraduate education, graduate (Master and Doctorate) education is also provided. As of 2021, 17 Professor Doctors, 3 Associate Professors, 9 Dr. There are 38 academic and 14 administrative staff, including Faculty Members and 9 Research Assistants.
The campus of our faculty serves in two buildings, A and B Block, on an area of 10,000 m². There are 4 lecture halls, 1 conference hall, 4 classrooms, 1 computer laboratory, 9 research laboratories, 2 aquarium units and 1 closed-circuit aquaculture unit, which are equipped in accordance with today's conditions in order to carry out educational activities and scientific research in the best way possible. There are two research boats named Seydi Ali Reis R/V (22.5 mt) and Aurelia R/V (11 mt) used in scientific studies and student practices. A sports facility with a football field carpet, volleyball court, basketball court and tennis court located in the campus of our faculty; In addition, the cafeteria and dining hall in the campus provide opportunities for our students' sports activities, and their food and social needs are met.
