This pilot experience aims to increase the awareness of students between 17 and 19 years of age on some highly technological tools applied to the maritime industry, also providing for the development of specific training materials to simplify their use.

The experience will involve students from five institutes between Trieste and Monfalcone (Friuli Venezia Giulia - Italy) and their reference professors.

The Workshop will be divided into two three-hour days, during which different topics will be addressed, including:

  • Meaning and relevance of Ocean Literacy
  • 3D Laser Scan, photogrammetry and Virtual Reality: introduction and comparison of the different systems, practical test on an object, and homework for students.
  • Case studies: introduction to the construction of plants, exposure of critical issues and visualization of a "water ballast treatment system", that is a filtering system of ballast water, of a chemical tanker.
  • Virtual Reality implementation in the field of design.
