Internship position (12 ECTS)
programme:
EMBC+
Oceans and Lakes
In the frame of the PhD project “MArine MAcrobenthic COmmunities associated to the Peruvian Scallop Argopecten purpuratus culture (MACOPS): structural and functional diversity, feeding ecology and contaminant exposure”, macrobenthic communities, seston and sediments are collected in Sechura Bay and front Illescas Reserved Zone (Peru). Next to field data, the integrated research approach will include the analysis of stable isotopes (δ13C and δ15N), fatty acids and metals from macrobenthos collected in two locations along the Sechura Bay and one in the Illescas Reserved Zone during the years 2016 (ENSO) – 2017 (post ENSO). The student will have a diverse set of tasks including assistance on macrobenthos species identification, biochemical analyses (e.g. fatty acids) and data analysis and interpretation. [NOTE] Samples were already collected in Sechura Bay and front Illescas Reserved Zone, during the years 2016 (ENSO) – 2017 (post ENSO).
