General information

Scope:

The Elementary First Aid course has been designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended, Table A-VI/1-3.

Course content:

  • First aid equipment;
  • Duties of a First Aider;
  • Actions in emergencies;
  • Basic life support & CPR;
  • The unconscious casualty;
  • Treatment for wounds, bleeding, burns, scalds, shock, fractures, dislocations and sof tissue injuries;
  • Gain radio assistance and transportation & high wire transfer by heli of the sick and injured.
Objective:

Those who succesfully complete this course should acquire the basic knowledge of the immediate actions to be taken upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency aboard ship.
