the effect of seagrass restoration on marine biodiversity

at the Marine Park of Arrábida, near Lisbon, in Portugal, a restored seagrass meadow has been duplicating in cover area every year. The students will study the effects of this restoration project on marine biodiversity. This will include fish and invertebrates, and both algae and fauna associated to the seagrass leaves and sediments. Samples will also be collected to study the microbiome, but the molecular results will not be available within the time frame of the internship. Planktonic organisms associated to the seagrass will also be studied, particularly fish larvae.
